   Hints & Tips

8Thursday evenings at the shop have been extremely popular since we started organising the events in 2007.

Over the years we have had various people and organisations coming to enthral and entertain us here in Trowbridge and initially in Westbury. From professional model makers to school projects, we’ve learnt about soldering; weathering; figure painting; card kit building; scratch-building; detailing vehicles; loco servicing; track & point wiring; backscene painting; realistic scenery; etc. etc.

We have had informative talks on varied subjects including: The Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway; Pickfords Railway History; Swiss Railways; Darjeeling Himalayan Railway; etc.

Plus some excellent layouts and their owners have given their time and expertise for free on a Thursday evening. Layouts include: Selsden Park; Seend; Hectorage Road; Highbury Colliery; Tucking Mill; Penrhos; Pallett Lane etc. Many of the layouts will have been 6seen in the modelling press and at the many shows and exhibitions around the country.

The sessions run from 7pm for an hour or two and there is usually an opportunity for informal questions and a chat afterwards.

Tea, coffee & biscuits are provided free of charge, occasionally chocolate biscuits may appear!!

Due to other commitments, Railway Thursday is taking a break. It wont be returning in 2017. Check this page or sign up to our email newsletter for info on when we are back.
